Heyy Babyy film review

So we just got around to watching the film Heyy Babyy some days ago and thought we might as well review it. Alright then, here we go, this film has got a lot of mixed reviews from everywhere already, with people talking about how the film was not up to the mark, about how it was a lift off a Hollywood movie etc. Lets analyze it all.

Story: The story of this film holds quite some substance to it, when it starts you are not sure what is going to happen, with the three actors dancing in a bar, it seems like another one of those three friends have fun, get in some problems and get out of problems and have fun again story. But this one was different, it may have been copied from a Hollywood blockbuster, but still I personally appreciate Sajid Khan's effort of trying the story in an Indian avatar, now, comparing this movie to the hollywood movie is immature and therefore I won't do it. So overall, a very good story, a few loose ends, but fine story nevertheless.

Acting: Fardeen Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh have acted well in the film, and so has the baby, performances by Boman Irani, Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan have been very lacking though, unmotivated, lazy and sloppy execution of their scenes was seen when these three were on the screen. Akshay Kumar... I don't know why didn't he deliver a great performance like always and instead threw ahead a ho-hum performance.

Screenplay: Some of the scenes in the film were unnecessarily unrealistic, they made the movie seem like a movie and not something that was happening in real life. Also, some of the scenes were also stretched uselessl, which should have been kept short. So, very... lacking Screenplay here.

Direction: Not good, the film had some very bad and elongated sequences, such as the song where the three realise the importance of their baby, it was too long, their fatherhood could have been explained without a song, it would even have added a lot of credibility to the sequences, also, the beginning party scene totally wipes out of any possibility of Akshay Kumar having any remorse for his relationship with Vidya Balan, which has been projected as the truth later on, it even shows that Akshay Kumar TOTALLY forgot about her, how can he be in love with her then?

Vidya Balan wore outrageous outfits, this is coming from someone who usually appreciates crazy clothing combinations, her hair style and the way she carried herself through the film totally didn't suit the actress she is, I could see someone like Priyanka Chopra doing that role, but definitely not Vidya Balan, she was the wrong choice for the movie. Then, the name of the film was misleading, and so was the title song, people were expecting a comedy movie and not what Heyy Babyy served them, the name could have been more on-topic. The end was not convincing either.

Music: The film had nothing good to offer here.

Overall: A nice concept for a movie, everything else was below average. Not worth watching.

Our Rating: 1/5
